Ellen Farrell - MA, NCC, LPC, EEMCP
Holistic Psychotherapist
Licensed Counselor ~ Intuitive ~ Reiki Master
Ellen is a Nationally Certified (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has completed the two-part EMDR training for the treatment of trauma-related issues (see "What Is" link for more info.), and Past Life Regression Therapy certification training with Brian Weiss, M.D., (summer of '08 at the Omega Institute). She has studied with many noted professionals in the Mind-Body-Spirit field of holistic health since the early 80's such as Donna Eden (Ellen is an Eden Energy Medicine Certified Practitioner, EEMCP, having completed the 2-year Eden Energy Medicine Certification Program – she is excited to be able to bring this work to her clients ...see Helpful Links and What Is... under Articles for more information on Energy Medicine), and has trained with Caroline Myss (1988) and Norm Shealy (NICABM), and has done the Barbara Brennan Energy work (with Victoria Schuver Song 1993-4) and Cherokee Medicine healing with Running Wolf (1995-6), in Taos, NM.
A Seichim and Reiki Master, in 1987 Ellen received her 1st level attunements from the American-International Reiki Association (AIRA) in NYC. Her work doing chakra reading and as a psychological intuitive blossomed with Reiki! She is a certified Technologies for Creating Instructor (see The Path of Least Resistance by Robert Fritz), and Creativity Coach (see Eric Maisel for his books and website). While completing her BFA in Acting at Rutgers University in the early 80's, Ellen studied T'ai Chi, Alexander Technique, and Aikido with Bruce Fertman there (see Links: Alexander Alliance), and later in LA, Qi Gong. In addition to study and practice of Transcendental Meditation (Princeton 1982) and many styles of meditation prior to and since then, she has also studied Deep muscle and Swedish massage, and many styles of Yoga (NYC, Pittsburgh, LA, and San Francisco – Ellen won a trip to the Yoga Journal Conference in SF, December 2007, and studied with Rodney Yee, and others, amazing practitioners!). Ellen is a certified Yoga instructor through the National Endurance & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA). Her Yoga teaching is meditative, and incorporates Energy Medicine and Alexander Technique with a focus on proper alignment and breath-work, and inner harmony – listening to body, mind & spirit, our Divine connection. Ellen's style is most aligned with Hatha: Anusara, Sivananda and Kripalu (see Yoga Journal on the What Is... under Articles page).
Possibly from her lineage of her maternal great-grandfather Cohen from Russia, and her Great-great Grandfather, Grand Rabbi of his village in Eastern Europe, from an early age Ellen has been drawn to the mystical and metaphysical, and has had many profound experiences remembering/seeing/feeling, and listening to and communicating with Spirit, Angels, Animals, and the Natural world. Through this work she has refined her skill working with the highest levels of awareness and guidance, and feeling/seeing energies, and the genesis of painful emotional blocks, in and around the body – Ellen is an intuitive and an empath who helps you to work with your own energies to feel peace and joy. Her clients say they feel more clear, energized, spiritually balanced and healed (see Testimonials under the About the Work link).
Her early career focused on work with children K-12, faculty and administrators as a core member in a Drama Therapy Improvisation group in PA, and other grant-funded improv group work in school systems in Southern California. These provided empowering inter-active programs, healing solutions, raised awareness and built core values, integrity, and healthy boundaries. Her experiences as an actress also included comedy improvisation (LA) and a variety of theatrical roles. Ellen finds acting another fascinating and meaningful way of exploring and understanding the human psyche and transmuting pain into healing, and remembering the fullness of being.
Ellen also has over 10 years of experience and training in the Nutrition/Health-Food Industry and Alternative-Complementary approaches to healing, and she was employed as a buyer in PGH (1987) and LA, and an Associate Team Leader in Chicago and a Team Leader of the Nutrition Department at Whole Foods Market in the River Forest/Oak Park Chicago area. Through her own self study as well as exposure and trainings (Bastyr Nutrition course) Ellen developed a knowledge base about healthy eating, herbs, homeopathy, flower essences, etc.
Ellen's Master's degree is in Psychology specializing in Counseling
(Georgia School of Professional Psychology, a.k.a., Argosy University), and she completed her 9-month Graduate Practicum at the Savannah College
of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2000, working at SCAD as a clinical
Counselor, and Wellness Specialist (2001-2006). She now enjoys a private practice in Savannah GA and is available for group trainings and individual sessions.
